Biography/History

Michael Lightowler was appointed, Australian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China in August 1991, an appointment he held until December 1995. In June 1995 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia.

Notes

This interview is part of a joint project of the National Library of Australia and the Australia China Council to mark the 40th anniversary (1972-2012) of diplomatic relations between China and Australia.

During the interview recorded on the 9 June 2013 the interviewer mistakenly states it is recorded on the 10 June 2013.
