MS Acc12.032 comprises biographical information and a photograph of Sweetser; letters to Sweetser, largely from the early 1940s, from writers and publishers regarding her poetry and published volume, Country dance and other verse (1941); unpublished poems by Sweetser and Peter Miles; and personal papers (documents relating to Sweetser's passage to America in 1945 as a war bride). Correspondents include Clem Christesen, Flexmore Hudson, Peter Miles, Rex Ingamels, Brian Vrepont, Tom Dimes, Max Harris, James Picot, Robert Hillyer and Thomas Shapcott (1 packet).
The Acc12.061 instalment comprises plays, poetry and prose of Sweetser. The plays include Girl in the yellow silk gown, Masters of comedy... and their servants, Judgement day (derived from an earlier play, Deus ex machena) and Changes in the script. The prose item is a manuscript titled "Lasting commitment". In addition, there is a photograph of a 1937 Brisbane Teachers College group, which includes Marceine Sweetser (at that stage Marceine la Dickfos), and theatre ephemera (1 packet).
The Acc12.100 instalment comprises playscripts, lyrics and music manuscripts for productions by Sweetser: Man into space, World turned upside down and Private rental (1 packet).
The Acc13.002 instalment comprises poetry, early school journals (state commercial and high school) as well as photocopies of theatre images, including from a production of Mother courage and of Queen Elizabeth in Schiller's Mary Stuart. Additional essay material concerning John Webster's The white devil (1 packet).
The Acc13.066 instalment comprises a copy of an annotated manuscript "John Donne's well wrought turn: the music of the canonization" as well as poetry from various phases of the author's life, including The way of love and In the white ward. Included in the papers are images on CD of Marceine Sweetser acting in Mother courage" and Mary Stuart (1 folder).
The Acc13.175 instalment comprises typed and handwritten notes and drafts relating to Sweetser's work Extreme measures in John Webster's The white devil (1 packet).

Writer. Marceine Sweetser is an Australian-born poet and playwright who has lived in the United States for most of her life. Marceine Ia Dickfos was living in Brisbane in 1942 when she met and married Wesley Sweetser, a member of the American defence force stationed in Queensland at that time. In 1945 she sailed to America with her son to join her husband. In the United States Marceine Sweetser continued to study, write poetry and plays, and to work in theatre.
