Summary

World Wide Web site of James Chung-Gon, one of a small number of Chinese merchants active in the city of Lauceston in Tasmania early this century and was highly respected in the community. This is the story of his life told by his descendants, since he arrived in Australia, unable to speak a word of English and with a shilling in his pocket. This is also a story of his perseverance and achievement.
