Summary

Folkloric recording.

The interview was recorded at Billys Creek, via Dorrigo, N.S.W. John Stanton is the brother of Anina Brice, Maysie Tucker & Gwen Negus who had previously recorded folk songs mainly learnt from their father in the years prior to WWII. This material is also held in the the National Library of Australia Oral History collection. John continues the stories and music of the Stantons in the Burragorang Valley near Sydney. Louise (John's wife) recalls her family background; research and publication of local history in the Dorrigo, N.S.W. area. John & Louise recall the effects of the Depression on the family; the atmosphere during the Japanese attack on Sydney; dances in the Tilba, N.S.W. area in the late 1940s and early 1950s; community life in the Dorrigo area.
