1 card : colour ; 22 cm
Colour chromolithographed artwork depicting a cockatoo swooping under the Southern Cross over a snow covered village. Verso uncoloured artwork shows an Aboriginal child delivering mail while sitting on an albatross, the albatross carrying a bag (labelled "H.M. Mail") fastened with rope to its feet. A poem appears in a panel on the top left.
Poem on verso: "All around the snow was falling, / and its softly drifting whirl / Covered deep the little village / where there slept— / In the heart of dear old England — a fair / bright Australian girl, / Whose true heart turned fondly home- / ward while she wept, / While she thought of how the home- / stead in the sunny southern land / Stood in rays of golden sunshine all / the day, / While, like brilliant living snowflakes, / soared the merry cockatoo, / O'er the home she loved and longed / for—far away! ... ".
Library's copy has some blemishes on the verso.
