Ian Temby, QC, speaks about his family background, his childhood in Perth, working as a jackaroo on a sheep station in the Pilbara during 1960, studying law at the University of Western Australia, working at Northmore Hale, his involvement with the Law Society of Western Australia, serving on Subiaco Council from 1976 to 1984, being appointed as a Queen's Counsel, contesting the Nedlands by-election for the Australian Labor Party, his presidency of the Law Council of Australia, being appointed as the first Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, the operation of the DPP and some of the prosecutions undertaken by it, deciding to accept the position with the New South Wales Independent Commission Against Corruption, the establishment of ICAC, the role of ICAC, some ICAC investigations, the pressures on the Commission and the Commissioner, returning to private practice in 1994, law reform, and his personal interests.

Temby was a member of Subiaco Council, 1976-84, Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, 1984-88, and Commissioner for the Independent Commission Against Corruption (N.S.W), 1989-1994.
