Hassall speaks about his early childhood and family life; the death of his uncle; leaving Olive Downs Station; going from Adelaide to Sydney by boat; his father being swindled out of Olive Downs Station; moving to the Cooma area; mother working as a governess at Wittabrinna Station; moving to Cootamundra district; schooling; enlisting in the army in 1918; discharge from army in 1919; going back to his parent's property at Narraburra near Temora; deciding to make sheep breeding and wool-growing his livelihood; his wife and family; get togethers with his children and grandchildren.
