Elizabeth Hawkins was the wife of Thomas Fitzherbert Hawkins (1781-1837), former naval officer who arrived in the colony of New South Wales with his family in January 1822. He was appointed to the position of commissariat store-keeper at Bathurst and took up government land in the nearby district.
