- Summary:
-
This book provides an overview of the development of the Geelong Eastern Cemetery since the first burial in 1839. There are gaps in the story because some minute books are missing and official documents do not always tell the whole story, but records show that the history and evolution of this beautiful cemetery is a story of personal effort, achievements and setbacks, and respect for our ancestors, families and loved ones. It is also a story of the Trust's determination to address the dual tasks of pereparing for the needs of future generations whilst respecting the lives and achievements of those who went before us.
