Summary

A collection of Norman and Evelyn Bartlett's correspondence, diaries, newspaper clippings, photographs, literary drafts and books. The correspondence mostly relates to Dr Bartlett work as a journalist and writer, his wartime experiences and philosophies, his work, his academic life and his interests. There is some personal correspondence between Dr Bartlett, his wife and other members of his family. The diaries of Evelyn Bartlett cover the years 1936-1979 and contain extensive descriptions of her travels. The major correspondents are Len Barsdell, Peter Coleman, Waler Crocker, Sir Paul Hasluck, Hammond Innes, Manning C. Clark, Walter Murdoch, Colin Simpson, Rex Ingamells.

Biography/History

Norman Bartlett was a writer and journalist. He was Australian Press Attache in Bangkok 1955-1959; New Delhi 1960-. He was the Information Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo 1965-1969 and Liaison Officer (Economies) News and Information Bureau in London in 1970-1973. His wife Evelyn was also a writer.
