MS 10230 is comprised primarily of photographs of George Johnston and Charmian Clift, their family and friends, circa 1930s-1960s. The photographs depict their time in Australia, Europe and living on the Greek Island of Hydra; as well as Johnston's time as a war correspondent in China. Included in the collection are copies of Johnston's handwritten New Guinea diary (1942); a manuscript copy of The Australians; and running captions for the photographs taken by Robert B. Goodman (3 boxes, 1 large folio box).
