Mathilde Elizabeth: Correspondence on family matters and with various Australian libraries concerning research undertaken; copies of documents and despatches, indexes to colonial despatches in the Public Record Office, London; photographs of family and friends; newspaper clippings (1903-1957); writings and material on other interests notably Theosophy. Henry Deane: Correspondence principally on engineering matters and botanical interests including fossil flora and native timbers (includes correspondence with J.H. Maiden, von Mueller and W. Baldwin Spencer); copies of reports and addresses; photographs; newspaper clippings and publications (1899-1933) concerning his career and other interests; botanical specimens and photographs.
- Biography/History:

Henry Deane (1847-1924): Engineer in Chief, New South Wales Railway Service, and later of the Commonwealth Railways Construction Branch, when he directed the building of the Transcontinental (Kalgoorlie-Port Augusta) Railway. He was also a keen botanist. Mathilde Elizabeth Deane (1870?-) Research student and amateur writer, she accompanied her father (Henry) on his overseas travels.
