- Double hemispherical map of the world showing routes of Captain Cook's three voyages. Relief shown pictorially.
- Australia is shown as Nouvelle Hollande with Tasmania attached to mainland. Remnants of Terra Australis are shown "Terre Australie Magellaniq ou Inconnue".
- Decorative border surrounding the map shows the zones of the Earth, phases of the moon, lunar calendars, signs of the zodiac, wind points (over 60 wind heads), the solar systems, and other astronomical and astrological dials. Set on an elaborate neo-classical portico supported by sets of four Corinthian columns, each with descriptive panels giving geographical information on the three ancient continents of Europe, Asia and Africa.
