Summary

Diary (2 vols.) kept by Mr. Scholes during the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition to Heard Island, 1947-1949. Diary (1 vol.) kept by Mr. Scholes during the voyage of Discovery II to the Queen Mary Land area of the Antarctic. Souvenir pennant of the 1947 expedition designed after the landing at Heard Island, Dec. 1947. Rough sketch map prepared during the exploration of the northern end of Heard Island.

Biography/History

Accompanied the pioneer expedition to Heard Island, 1947. He has published a book about it, Fourteen Men (1949).
