- Summary:
-
The Sleeping Beauty was first performed by the Imperial Russian Ballet at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in January, 1890. In 2015 Queensland Ballet presented Greg Horsman's The Sleeping Beauty which incorporates much of the traditional choreography, and adding background narratives to many of the characters to enrich their story and role. Teacher Resource Kits are created to complement a school's visit to the theatre or to support a workshop delivered in-school. As a standalone resource it is a useful starting point to investigate ballet or to delve deeper into the historical, social and artistic aspects of a particular production, thus providing richer and more experiential learning opportunities for a broad range of students and a great variety of classroom situations.
