"The First Fleet has been printed & published by Christopher and Anthony Sandford and Owen Rutter at the Golden Cockerel Press of 10 Staple Inn, London, and completed on the 24th day of August, 1937. The edition is limited to 375 copies printed on Arnold's hand-made paper in Perpetua type" -- Colophon.

"Some of this material is now printed for the first time ; the more important documents appear in the Historical records of New South Wales, published in Sydney in 1892."--p. 20.

Includes despatches from Arthur Phillip and proposals from James M. Matra for establishing a settlement in New South Wales.
