MS Acc01.145 comprises scores, correspondence, interviews, books, programs, news cuttings, photographs and posters (8 packing boxes, 1 cylinder).
The Acc04.091 instalment includes correspondence, programs, cuttings, photographs, music scores and sketches, and eight compact discs including a recording of Deep sea dreaming (2000 Olympics). Titles of works include Wild swans, Mythic, Colyi, Purple prelude, The widower and Tubamirum (5 boxes, 7 fol. boxes).
The Acc07.200 instalment comprises scores and associated correspondence and ephemera for commissioned and other works, including Wild swans, Bombshells, Homage to the miners, Psalm 130, Amalgamate, pieces for Rugby World Cup 2003, No silence and Blue silence for cello and piano, Silver poetry suite, and Pigeon and sparrow (4 boxes, 10 fol. boxes).
- Biography/History:

Composer. Elena Kats-Chernin was born in Tashkent in 1957 and emigrated to Australia in 1975. She studied music in Moscow, Sydney and Hanover, Germany where her composition teacher was Helmut Lachenmann. Kats-Chernin's compositions include operas, piano concertos, compositions for many performers and ensembles, silent film tracks, a ballet score and works for orchestra. She was commissioned to write a piece for the 2000 Sydney International Piano Competition. Her music was featured at the opening ceremonies of both the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the 2003 Rugby World Cup. In 2004 Kats-Chernin won the Helpmann Award for best original score for Wild swans and in 1996 she won both the Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition and the Classical Music Award for Best Composition of an Australian Composer.
