Peter O'Shaughnessy, actor, theatrical producer and writer, talks about his family background; early interest in theatre and his decision to become an actor and his early acting experiences. He then discusses his work with J. B. Fowler; working in England, 1950-54; working with John Sumner and his work with Ormond College as a director. O'Shaughnessy then describes his trip to Rumania as a cultural delegate for Actors' Equity. He then talks about Melbourne in the 1950s and personalities of "The Drift" who met at the Swanston Family Hotel; relationship with Barry Humphries; work as a radio actor 1945-50; Children's Theatre Guild; relationship with Beckett; views on language and the theatre; financial difficulties; Catholicism; early employment and experiences in England in 1961. O'Shaughnessy then discusses his involvement with the publication, "The restless years"; reads excerpts from Ned Kelly's letter to the Jerilderie paper and "Convicts tour to Hell"; libel suit; childhood memories; importance of tennis and his views on Ireland.
