Folkloric recording. TAPE ONE: Greg O'Leary, born in Melbourne, recalls his family background; musical influences, records and radio always played at home; learning to play folk recorder and guitar; going to Jazz Clubs; working at CSIRO; continuing education in folk guitar; Australia during the Vietnam War; folk music in Victoria in the 1970s; learning fiddle; performing in Melbourne; importance of being self-taught; early development of bush bands and their influence on awareness of the Australian music tradition. TAPE TWO: folk bands, including Harvest Moon Band, Growling Dogs; researching and transcribing folk music at the National Library; various musical techniques and influences in Australia.
