Brown speaks about emigrating with her family from Scotland to South Australia in 1965, and about her training and work as a social worker. She was employed by the South Australian Department of Community Welfare where she encountered Indigenous people who were coping with the consequences of separation, or whom she assisted to reunite with their families. She is currently employed as a TAFE teacher at Horsham and Ballarat.
