National Library of Australia

Provided by National Library of Australia Authority File

The Library Board of Western Australia is the authority accountable for the operations of the State Library Service of Western Australia, which operated from 1953 until 1990, and the Library and Information Service of Western Australia, formed in 1964. Both the State Library Service and the Library and Information Service refer to the actual operations of the Library Board and both names appeared to be interchangeable until 1990, when the Library and Information Service of Western Australia became the preferred form. In July 2002 the Library and Information Service of Western Australia changed its name to the State Library of Western Australia. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication
