Politician. Cyril Chambers was born in Adelaide in 1897. He qualified as a dentist and served as an army medical officer in Australia and Papua during the Second World War. Previously he was elected president of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party in 1936. Chambers was the Labor member for Adelaide in the House of Representatives from 1943-1958 serving as Minister for the Army, 1946-1949, and Acting Minister for Transport and External Territories in 1948-1949.
