1. Correspondence of H.W.F. Bolckow, 1920-1923, with W.H. Ifould, John Sandes, G.D. Hobson of Sotheby's, and others concerning the valuation, description, provenance and sale of the Cook manuscripts in his possession. Also letters from C.H. Bertie, E.A. Petherick, Admiral W.J. Wharton to Charles Ferdinand Henry Bolckow (father of preceeding) 1895, 1910, concerning the manuscripts (33 letters). 2. Newspaper cuttings 1923, 1928, 1951, 1955 concerning the sale of the manuscripts and related matters. Also miscellaneous papers including a catalogue of 8 Walter Scott manuscripts, 1867, order the Cleveland district, Yorkshire, and notes by D. Hope Johnston on various matters. 3. Catalogue of manuscripts by or relating to Capt. James Cook for auction 21 March 1923 - Sotheby, Wilkinson and Hodge, London. Miscellaneous printed material.
- Biography/History:

Of Marton Hall, Yorkshire, in the grounds of which Cook was born, 1728. Bolckow's great-uncle, H.W.F. Bolckow's great-uncle, H.W.F. Bolckow of Marton Hall acquired Cook's journal, the Secret Instructions and other manuscripts, 1860-1870. They were sold at auction by Sotheby's, 1923.
