1. Subject files created by Lord Casey in the course of preparing his 1966 book Australian Father and Son. They include material on R. G. Casey (Snr); C. G. Casey; social, economic and climatic conditions in the later 19th century; and drafts, correspondence and photographs for "Australian father and son". 2. Thirty-two diaries kept by Lord Casey (23 Dec. 1939-10 June 1976), his diaries from 1904-1924 and 1914/1915 war diaries/notebooks. Diaries, bank books and letterbooks of R. G. Casey (Snr), 1874-1916. Letter and account books of C. G. Casey, 1848-1884. 3. Ninty-five volumes of press cuttings relating to Lord Casey, covering the period 1924-1978. Also 4 cm. of loose cuttings. 4. Manuscript copy of Lord Casey's 1954 work "Friends and neighbours". 5. Material and realia relating to Lord Casey's Order of the Garter as well as other titles and honours.

Lord Casey (1890-1976) had a varied political career that included Federal Treasurer, Minister of State in the British War Cabinet, and Minister for External Affairs (1951-1960). He was Governor of Bengal 1944-1946 and Australian Governor-General from 1965-1969. Lord Casey's father, Richard Gardiner Casey Senior (1846-1919) was a pastoralist, politician and businessman. His grandfather was Cornelius Gavin Casey (1810-1896), a colonial medical officer and pastoralist.
