Heather Winch, born at Kyogle, N.S.W. recalls her family background; her father, a farmer migrating from England under the Dreadnaught Scheme at the age of 16 years; the family's move to Bexley, Sydney (1937); school games; family entertainment and music; her art studies; life in the Wiseman's Ferry Area; her move to Lower Macdonald; local interest in history of the area resulted in the formation of the Historical Society; story about a little boy, related by a local character; the history of the white settlement of the area.
She speaks about changes in St. Albans population and farming since 1960; people still lived in self sufficency in isolated communities into the 1980s; Webbs Creek community; St Albans weekly dances; the Woodbury family from Mangrove Creek ; no Aboriginal people now left in the valley; local Aboriginal sites; early white settlers of different nationalities, many Irish convicts were political prisoners; convict ancestry of the valley; her first husband was descended from the early white settler Rose; old houses (slabbies) still at St Albans; seven pubs in the area originally, all the houses in the valley were once pubs, except 'Primrose Hill' the Sternbeck home; local Aboriginal history, old roads were surveyed with Aboriginal guidance.
