Reel 5. Side 1: Dibbs talks about his World War I service as a fighter pilot; being in the Royal Flying Corps, no.2 Squadron Corps France as a fighter pilot. Initially he was an infantryman, then he went to the R.F.C as an observer. Circumstances of transferring from infantry to R.F.C. in 1915; training as an observer; flying training; experiences as an observer with nos. 3 & 11 Squadrons; opinion of German fighters; the first German daylight raid on England; pilot training; first few solo flights. Reel 5. Side 2: Flying experiences; SE5's aerobatics; difficulties confirming number of enemy planes shot down; thoughts during combat; circumstances of joining no.3 Squadron; first flight with no.3; Major (later Sir Edwin) Knox; Lionel Sandy & Hughes; flights after the Armistice; visit to Brussels; opinion of Fokker D7 which he flew; how he became a scout pilot with no.2 Squadron; qualifications for graduation; ground gunnery & gunnery school.

Dibbs was educated at Sydney Grammar School and was a clerk in the Exchange branch of CBC of Sydney 1917. Attached to the General Staff, 3rd Australian Division in France and from there joined the Royal Flying Corps BE's.
