Boy Byrnes (Valentine Victor Byrnes), born 1918 on Kilparney Station in the Mt Hope district talks about family background; the house at Kilparney; childhood memories; correspondence schooling Cobb & Co; race meetings, balls; Depression years; dances and musicians at Mt Hope; singing while working; the songs 'Euabalong Lair' and 'Euabalong Ball'; Whoey Woolshed/property and race meeting and ball held there; his father's stories; Royal Mail Hotel at Lake Cargelligo; his grandmother being badly burnt at the hotel; yarn spinners; ghost stories; haunted houses; bullock driving; shearing from 1959 onwards; different stations, including "Boobaroi"; changes within the sheep industry; unions; boxing; social activities when not working; daughter Maria Fenton.
