Peter Dennis was born 1966 in Monrovia, Liberia. Peter married Maybel and had five children. In 1996 the family was affected by the Taylor's army, the National Patriotic Force of Liberia and were rescued by the United Nations Peace Keeping Force, which took them to Guinea. After three years the family moved to a United Nations-run camp in Ghana in 1999, where Peter trained and worked as a Pastor with the Assemblies of God Church. In 2006 Peter arrived in Canberra as a refugee with his two children. They were helped to settle in Goulburn, N.S.W. by Centacare. With the help of Companion House, the Red Cross and his Church in Ghana, Peter located his wife and three remaining children and they were reunited in Australia on 22 February 2007.
