Folkloric recording. Felice Porcu, retired cabinet maker, came to Australia from Italy in 1957. He recalls his family background in Italy. He talks about working on the Snowy Scheme in 1958-1959; working conditions in the camps; racism and attitudes of some people towards Italians; then taking up his trade of joinery and cabinet making, a trade that has been in the family for generations. Porcu realls how he met his wife and how she came to Australia; moving to Leeton in 1974; buying a joinery shop, his son joining the business later. He talks about the preservation of their culture and traditions; traditional dances from Sardinia, Italy; Sardinian musical instruments; the work ethic.
