"The [Australian] Government decided to raise loans from the public and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia was entrusted with the job of managing the operation on behalf of the Commonwealth Government. On the 1st July 1915, the first of seven war loans was launched with the Government hoping to raise 5 million pounds ...
