The collection comprises the following items: Incomplete typescripts of some chapters of The Tichborne case by F.H. Maugham published in 1936 (folders 1-2) and correspondence concerning the trial: Four letters (1873) from the Tichborne claimant, Arthur Orton (signed Roger Tichborne) to Dr E. Kenealy, the leading Counsellor in the inheritance case; one letter (14 February 1874) ) from the claimant, Arthur Orton (signed Roger Tichborne) to Edward H. Blyth; one letter (27 July 1875) from John Bright to Sir George Duckett regarding the trial (folder 3); the will of Sir Roger Charles Doughty Tichborne, London, 29 May 1869 (1 folio item).
- Biography/History:

Arthur Orton claimed to be Roger Tichborne (b. 1829), heir to the extensive family estates in England. Edward Kenealy was the lawyer in the Tichborne case, heard before the Court of Queen's Bench at Westminster in 1873-74.
