Album of photographs relating to the Australian Cricket Team tour of England in 1930 during the 4th Test at Manchester. Images document social scenes on the rest day 27 July 1930, at Jodrell Hall country home. Includes images of Australian cricket players Don Bradman, Arthur Mailey, Bill Ponsford, William Kelly, Bert Oldfield, Charlie Walker, Bill Ferguson, Edward a'Beckett, Bill Woodfull, Tim Wall and Alec Hurwood. Also includes English cricket players and the former Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne Bruce.
"This is the hottest sun I have know this English summer" said Arthur Mailey, who was busy trying to play bowls as well as he can play cricket. And, truly, the clouds cleared and the sun shone with an unaaccustomed brilliance as we gathered on the lawn of Jodrell Hall, Sir Edwin and Lady Stockman's beautiful country home and awaited the arrival of our Australian visitors. It was the Sunday of the Fourth Test Match and the men who yesterday were our enemies, were to be our friends today..."--Information taken from printed text bound with album.
