Summary

Clancy, was National Secretary of the Building Workers Industrial Union, 1972 to 1985, speaks about his childhood in Redfern; his first job in a boot pattern factory; working as bricklaying apprentice; joining the United Operative Bricklayers Trade Society; formation of the Building Workers Industrial Union in 1942; joining the Communist Party; his union activities; industrial safety; BWIU split; national organisation; his blindness; the groupers; the Arbitration system; Jack Mundy; his involvemnt with the Labor Council and ACTU; Bob Hawke; the peace movement; Labor governments.
