Summary

Wanda Horky, librarian and director of the Polish Historical Institute in Australia, born in Perth, Western Australia recalls her family background and childhood; her formal education; the Perth Polish community, 1950s-1960s; the Polish Ethnic School, Perth (W.A.); the Mazowsze Dance Group, Perth (W.A.); her interest in librarianship; her career with the National Library of Australia, changes within the Library over a 28 year period; her family; her involvement with the Polish communities in Perth and Canberra; the Polish Historical Institute in Australia; her visit to Poland, 1994; her sense of ethnic identity today and her views on official multiculturalism.

Wanda Horky, librarian at the National Library of Australia, is assistant to the Manager, Australian Collection Development and is the Director, of the Polish Historical Institute in Australia.
