- National Library of Australia's SRq COOK 54 (SRq 910.4 C771 P486 v. 14) copy pasted onto quarto leaves; bears manuscript note in ink, quoting the Naval Chronicle of 1799, "Samwell was likewise author of many short detached pieces of poetry, as well in his native Welsh as in the English language, which possess considerable merit. His little poem the "Negro boy" was very favourably received by the public. He was a man of cultivated understanding and friendly disposition. In his profession he was justly esteemed skilful; and he is much lamented. He died at his home in Fetter-lane aged 47. Nov. 1789. N. Chn vol 1. p 175"; this copy is part of the complete green stamped Petherick set consisting of 11 titles including various editions of the three official accounts (B648, B1217, B1553); Parkinson (B714); Forster's Account (B1247), Observations (B1262) and Characteres (B1385); Observations by Wales (B719) and Bayly (B1287); Kippis (B32); Samwell (B1620) and atlas (B1553); bound subsequent to publication in green morocco with gold embossed covers and spines, marbled edges and endpapers.

Nan Kivell (no. 1786/5); rebound with additional plain pages with Ingres watermarks bound in.
