Biography/History

Adelaide born pianist who achieved a Bachelor of Music by the age of 18. She performed and lived in England during World War 2, then moved to the U.S.A. and toured there. She returned to Australia after retiring.

Condition: good.

Inscriptions: "F.24.301, 26.6.43, Vina Barnden, a well known young Australian pianist, who appeared in a London Promenade Concert for the first time on June 26th, when she played Rachmaninoff's Pianoforte Cpncerto no. 2 in C minor. The concert ws broadcast to Australia in the BBC's Overseas Shortwave Service, BBC copyright photograph ... for free reproduction, 4 Mar 1946" --printed on reverse.
