The papers consists of reports, cuttings, transcripts of interviews, press releases, pamphlets, roeoed items, circulars, and some correspondence. They cover such subjects as the policies of the various political parties towards defence, foreign policy, education income tax, censorship, abortion, the constitution, national health, rural policies, crime and drugs. Other topics covered include communism in the trade unions, the papers in this case comprising examples of unity tickets revealed in union election how-to-vote cards and Democratic Labor Party Conference agenda and policy statements. The correspondence consists largely of copies of McManus letters to newspapers, 1970-1971, letters from Ministers such as T. Drake-Brockman, Frank Crean and Nigel Bowen, individuals such as J.T. Kane and L. L'Estrange, and organisations like the Australian Broadcasting Commission.
