Frank Hinder discusses his family background; his father; trip to England and Europe as a young man; training for commercial art; his time in Chicago and Boston; his marriage in 1930; war service in camouflage; friends and associates including Grace Crowley, Ralph Balson, Eleanora Langer, Dr. Evatt, and Patrick White; the Contemporary Arts Society; theatre set work; his "luminal kinetics" sculptures; current projects; views on art; themes of his paintings; art teaching and portraits. Margel Hinder speaks on her family and childhood in Buffalo and Boston; her sculptures including individual commissions in Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle and Geelong; difficulties with finance, architects and vandalism of public sculptures; other sculptors and her political interests.
