Thesis submitted for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, University of Sydney, 1966 (4 vols: 3 of photographs and illustrations). The thesis is subtitled, "An analysis of the genesis and development of Revival styles of architecture current in New South Wales (but principally in Sydney ...) 1840-1900". It contains: Vol. I: text. Vol. II: Illustrations -Houses. Vol. III: Illustrations - Churches. Vol. IV: Illustrations - A. Banks, insurance houses. B. Town halls, public buildings and institutions. C. Schools, colleges, universities. D. Commercial buildings and hotels. Ten architectural drawings submitted for part II, MA (Arch.) London proposing a design for the Opera House in Sydney (it is unlikely that these plans were submitted to the Opera design competition).
- Biography/History:

Architect, architectural historian and lecturer. Born in Birstall, Yorkshire c. 1920. On war service from 1940-1945. Obtained the following degrees: BA (Arch.) London, 1949; MA (Arch.) London, 1957; PhD., University of Sydney, 1967. With his wife, he emigrated to Australia in 1951 and worked firstly for the Commonwealth Department of Works and then as a lecturer in the School of Architecture, University of Sydney.
