Bah Kiat, former Chief Analyst with the Christmas Island Phosphate Company, speaks about leaving Singapore in 1936 to work at the Christmas Island laboratory; lifestyle of the coolies; Ong Boon Tat and his system of identured labour; John Paris and the other island residents; Sikhs on the island; Japanese occupation during World War II and living conditions during this time; post-war reconstruction; and his career.
