- "The Snowy Mountains Scheme is designed to turn the waters of the Snowy River inland through the Great Dividing Range to the dry Western plains of the Murray and Murrumbidgee Valleys. In their passage westward these waters will fall over 2500 feet generating 2.5 million kilowatts of power and providing 2 million acre feet of water annually for irrigation."
