Theophanous, an academic at La Trobe University prior to becoming a Labor Member of Victorian Parliament, talks about his family background, migration to Australia in 1955, primary schooling, learning Greek, secondary school and dealing with discrimination, involvement in community politics after becoming a state politician. He talks about joining the Labor Party in 1980, being elected as Member of Parliament in 1988, his views on Jeff Kennett, expulsion from Socialist Left faction and the involvement of Greek-Australians in politics. He talks about the importance of Greek traditions and language and their future in Australia. Theophanous gives his views on multiculturalism and the new millennium, One Nation, Australia's economy and the future.
