1. John Gale and party excursion. "Six days on the mountains of Cowley", first printed in the Queanbeyan Age in sections, beginning Saturday June 12th, 1875; 2. Photocopies (pos.) of newpaper extracts from the Queanbeyan Observer written by John Gale including "An alpine excursion, notes on a trip to the mountains, rivers plains and caves of the Australian Alps" and a reprint of "Six days on the mountains of Cowley"; 3. Miscellaneous cuttings including reviews of John Gale's "Canberra: history and legends", also biographical notes (negative photocopies); 4. Obituary notice.
