Ship's newsletter titled "The Marco Polo Chronicle", number 1, 23 November 1853, to number 8, 14 January 1854 and supplementary number, 21 January 1854. It is edited by Dr I. Gillespie and describes events on board the ship, weather conditions, reports by the captain, what the passengers might expect in Melbourne and at the goldfields and also contains poetry, letters to the editor and advertisements.

The Marco Polo was a clipper built in Liverpool in 1852. She was the first ship in the Black Ball Line of Australian packets and completed her first journey from Liverpool to Melbourne in 75 (78?) days. On this trip she left Liverpool on 7 November with 717 passengers and crew.
