The Black Box recorder was developed by Dr David Warren at the then Aeronautical Research Laboratories in Melbourne (now the Aeronautical and Maritime Research Laboratory (AMRL), Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Department of Defence). The collection of documents comes from a number of sources and was put together as part of a range of activities to celebrate 60 years of aeronautical research and development at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne.
