Summary

Southwell, resident of Hall, talks about her family background; childhood home and schooling at Hall in a one-room school of approximately 40 students. She then describes the effect of the Depression on the family; attending opening of Parliament in 1927 and working for Mrs Grace Brown. Southwell then talks about the Postmaster, Charlie Southwell; work involved in running the General Store; involvement with Methodist Church and Sunday School at Wattle Park; recollections about the building of Sunday School Hall in 1928; involvement in Hall Show and the growth of Canberra and its effect on Hall village.
