Summary

Harris speaks about her childhood with her Aboriginal mother until the age of 13 when she was removed and placed at The Bungalow, Alice Springs. She describes living conditions at The Bungalow. During World War II, she was moved to Balaklava, S. Aust. She speaks about attending Singleton Missionary College, N.S.W. before returning to the Northern Territory as a probationary missionary. Harris worked as a probationary missionary at Berrimah until 1950 when she moved to Bagot Mission. She describes her reunion with her mother, and talks about her marriage to Jack White. After the marriage ended, she supported her five children by working as a cleaner seven days a week. Harris expresses her views on attitudes towards mixed descent children by Aboriginal and white communities.
