Summary

Brown speaks about his childhood on a farm in Victoria. He did a Bachelor of Arts and postgraduate studies in theology at the University of Melbourne. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1958 and spent much of the next 14 years in Korea. Brown was the Superintendent of the Presbyterian Board of Mission from 1972 until church union in 1977 when he was appointed as the General Secretary of the Commission of World Mission in the Uniting Church. From 1986 to 1991, he was the Director for Mission in the Uniting Church. He discusses the devolution of control of missions to Aboriginal people and the role of the Presbyterian Church in child separation. Brown also speaks about his continuing work to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
