Bringing them home oral history project.

Summary

Carberry speaks about his parents and his early life at Roseby Park, a reserve administered by the New South Wales Aborigines Welfare Board (AWB). When he was about 8 years old, the family moved to Browns Flat near Nowra. He describes being removed from his family at the age of 10 and placed in Mittagong Boys' Home. He also describes living conditions at Mittagong. At the age of 13, he was briefly fostered out on the AWB station at Moree, before going to work on a farm at Avoca. Carberry later married and has lived most of his life on the south coast of New South Wales.
