Hansen speaks about her mother, a separated child who grew up at Kahlin Compound, Darwin and about her own removal to Croker Island at the age of 11. She describes the harsh living conditions on Croker Island. At the age of 17 Hansen returned to Darwin and found work. She talks about her husband Peter Hansen, who was also a removed child from Croker Island and about the continuing effect of their childhood separation on their relationship with their children and grandchildren.
